Last I checked you only have 1 body. You need your body to function as best as possible, in order to accomplish your goals. Whether shooting a ball, swimming in a pool or landing a 450° splash, the things you do have to be supported well to give you the edge you're looking for. But how do you get there?
Anytime you put your body in a risky situation, you increase your chances of something bad happening. Accidents happen all the time, but if you prepare for the risk, you increase the chances of success. Keep in mind, your body can only take so much damage before your body can't recover. Think of it like a car. If you take care of it, you'll be able to use it for a long time. Become reckless, and it's only a matter of time before it breaks down and you can't use it anymore.
After almost 17 years of training and travelling as a Pro Wrestler, I understand that more than I like to admit. From bumps and bruises to broken bones and surgeries, my body tells me things all the time. And when it speaks, I listen.
Consider this. Instead of your body, begin with your mind. When you begin to understand the requirements of what you are getting yourself into, you will have more time to improve towards success and less time to waste with unecessary risk.
